To my fantastic supporters and friends,
After undergoing surgery to repair a knee injury in February, it became my intention to continue my bid for the United States House of Representatives in Florida's 17th District.
At which point, my mother became seriously ill and I ended up in the hospital for a serious life threatening health issue.
During this time I was approached and asked if I would consider running for Mayor in Cape Coral, Florida.
The switch made sense at the time, because it kept me close to home, so I could help care for my mother and handle my own health issue --an undiagnosed heart defect.
Shortly after announcing that I would run for Mayor, my mother passed away. During the campaign I underwent a surgical procedure to repair my heart issue, my daughter had our second grandchild and we as a community dealt with the impact of Hurricane Irma.
The Mayor's race was not in the cards for me, but this year helped me realize a few things; no matter what obstacle needs to be tackled, whether I'm running in the most red of red districts, copping with personal tragedy, struggling in the face of adversity, celebrating pure joy, or helping my community prepare and recover from a disaster -- I'm a fighter who will continue advocating for a better future.
Thank you for your love, kind wishes and support.
Always here for you,
More Updates are in the works! Stay tuned! 😊
