A Mass Shooting Tragedy in Fort Myers

Last night while we were sleeping, another mass shooting took place in Florida --this time it was only minutes from my home.

Two teens are dead, two more are in critical condition with more than a dozen others injured.

Children from my community, who were leaving a teen dance event at Club Blu in Fort Myers, were gunned down while being picked up in the parking lot.

The victims ranged in age from 12 to 27.

Bottom line: Our children should not need to worry about being gunned down in public by assailants with guns.

All children should be allowed to live with the peace of mind that they are safe in their community --something every child deserves in every town across the nation. This is something we all deserve.

Please send your thoughts and prayers to the victims, their families and to our community for comfort and healing, and for the wisdom to find a way we can each make a difference.
