Income Inequality, Food Insecurity and My Pledge to Give Back

Income inequality is plaguing our nation, our state and our communities. In many areas of Florida, District 17 and right here in Lee County - a large number of children live in virtual poverty - families of four and more with a median income of less than $20,000 per year. These families are food insufficient, with children going to school hungry, then they come home only to then go to bed hungry.

I strongly believe our elected leaders should be investing in their communities, not only legislatively but personally. When I’m elected I have pledged to give back to my community buy donating 10% of my salary to programs that have adopted a mission to provide leadership, advocacy and resources necessary to enhance the lives of underprivileged children, while empowering them to become responsible, productive adults.
