April Freeman for Congress Statement on Trump Administrations Unstable Trade Policy

Last month, reacting against his own advisors, President Trump proposed tariffs on 1300 goods from China. In retaliation, China has wasted no time in releasing their $50 Billion list of US goods for possible tariffs.

Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross recently reflected on the $50 Billion in Chinese retaliatory tariffs by saying, “the whole thing won't be nearly as bad as some people are saying it will be.” His reasoning? Because people won't literally be dying.

This rattled both investors, the and a whole lot of American farmers —which will have an immediate, direct and urgent impact right here in Florida’s 17th Congressional District.

The game of chicken President Trump is playing with China will hurt our local farmers and the Americans who can least afford it.

In the face of tax cuts that have not helped the average worker, now more than ever, we need economic stability —not uncertainty.
