Fort Myers, FL – This week, April Freeman the 2014 Democratic Nominee for the U.S. House of Representatives Special Election and Midterm Election in Florida’s 19th Congressional District filed paperwork that changes the direction of her 2016 campaign.
The paperwork filed will move her campaign from Congressional District 19 which is currently represented by Republican Curt Clawson and encompasses large sections of Lee and Collier County to Congressional District 17.
Freeman stated, “I know that I can be an effective Representative in Congress, and after reviewing the new proposed district maps - I believe a strong candidate, like myself has a better chance to reach the voters of District 17.”
Florida’s Congressional District 17 is currently represented by Republican Tom Rooney and includes at least a section, if not all of Sarasota, Polk, Hardee, DeSoto, Okeechobee, Glades, and Charlotte counties including a small section of Lee.
“My main objective is to make a difference and I can't do that from my living room in Cape Coral.” - “The impact I’ll be able to make in Washington will be good for all of Florida.” said Freeman about this crucial move in her run for Congress.
